I came up with this basic melodic idea on a dulcimer one afternoon on Meme's porch, and Grant turned it into a harmonic masterwork, equal parts Baroque and Dorian. Appropriately, I Gregor Mendel'd the old world/new world vines with an ol' Greek chestnut for the lyrics — after which I quickly had another beer.

Our first and one of our finest. Grant Summers imagined every last note of this beautiful tune, and I warbled lyrics of my own design. Though we were taking our inspiration largely from Amstel Light and Zapp's (what I'll here call "intensive artistic intuition"), we apparently tapped into something deeper: I refer intrepid eggheads to a most enlightening essay on Jetmen found in Roland Barthe's Mythologies.
